A late but fine and well coloured example of one of Royal Doulton’s most successful and longest running models, this Mid to Late 20th Century English Porcelain Figurine, “The Jester”, offered here in a brown and mauve colourway, was designed by Doulton’s famous Art Director Charles Noke, and was in production for nearly fifty years from 1949 to 1997. This example undated, but a later, rather than earlier figurine we suspect, the underside with green printed Royal Doulton backstamp for the period, “The Jester”, H.N. 2016, and in black, the Painter’s Monogram, EC, for Eileen Wardle, listed as working for Doulton from 1941 to 1989.
