NATURAL DIAMONDS

Natural diamonds are a rare, beautiful wonder created by Mother Nature. Formed under intense volcanic pressure and heat, they are more than 3 billion years old. Since the first diamonds were discovered, their beauty has enraptured us. In Old Egypt, diamonds represented the sun, a symbol of heavenly power. The ancient Romans believed diamonds were the tears of the gods and the Hindus in turn used diamonds as eyes in statues of deities. Diamonds are mined all over the world, including Africa, Australia, Asia and the America. To find just one diamond, miners must first sift through tons of rock and earth. Any diamonds found are carefully sorted by hand. After this, they’re cut and polished by expert craftsmen and then graded. Only then will they be sold to designers and wholesalers. All this takes months or even years and diamonds often travel from one continent to another in the process. If the appreciation of a diamond’s long journey from the earth to a shop window speaks to your imagination then a natural diamond is for you, when purchasing a natural diamond both authenticity and history are at the heart of your choice.

LAB GROWN DIAMONDS

Lab grown diamonds are a fusion of art and technology, a high-tech luxury. They are man-made, which can make people perceive them as less rare and alluring than mined diamonds. There is no visual difference in Lab Created Diamonds vs Natural Diamonds. They sparkle the same, have the same types of colour and clarity, and can come in the same sizes and shapes. Likewise, Lab Grown Diamonds are just as hard as Natural Diamonds. Lab Diamonds are considered environmentally sustainable and socially ethical because no mining is required. The US federal trade commission classifies lab grown diamonds to be genuine diamonds, as they have the exact same physical and chemical composition as mined diamonds. The only difference is their origin: instead of being extracted from the ground, they are grown by scientists in a specialist laboratory. Over the past 10 years, lab-grown diamonds have steadily grown in popularity as an affordable alternative to natural diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds can easily match the sparkle of any natural stone. When purchasing a lab-grown diamond you are choosing both beauty and sustainability.

Certified diamonds

Diamond certification is a process where an independent gem lab tests and assesses the quality of a diamond. Ensuring that your diamond is certified by one of the leading independent and recognized certification laboratories is essential for an unbiased assessment of the stone’s quality. GIA, HRD, IGI & EGL are the leading grading bodies in the diamond industry. These leading diamond certification organisations issue a unique number for every diamond, to protect the consumer. This number is often laser inscribed into the diamond’s girdle, and can be verified with a magnification loop. This assures you that the diamond that you are buying is the actual one.
